< Stalactites (-they hang on tight!)

A huge stalagmite (it might reach the "-tites" ) growing up from the floor. >
< Stalactite + stalagmite = stalagmate!


(Just kidding! If these joined it would be called a "column". And presuming these were active, it would take a few hundred years to fill the gap.)
At one time visitors and rangers thought these formations were touching, and named it "The Eternal Kiss". Then they found out that they were separated by about a millimeter, and were not active (growing) -- and renamed them "The Frustrated Lovers." >
