We went to Cooperstown to pay homageto The Game at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The homerun counter is what greets you as you walk in the door -- and the day we went, McGwire and Sosa were tied at 62 with 12 games left to play. >
< The McGwire display for breaking Maris' record included the bat and shoes he used, and his son's jersey. Go Big Mac Go!!!

V The day we were there, the Hall of Fame held a press conference to celebrate their new Sammy Sosa display. Here is the actual jersey he wore when he hit number 62. Go Sammy Go!!!

V The rest of the Hall of Fame was equally fascinating, from the sculpted plaques of the inductees to the coveted honors that that are awarded to baseball's greatest players (the Cy Young Award and the Golden Glove Award are pictured below). There were special exhibits on players such as Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, analysis of stadiums and evolving elements of the game (bats, balls, uniforms, etc.), every record you could possibly imagine --plus tons of paraphenalia from key games since the origin of baseball. A wonderful museum even if you're not a huge baseball fan.

Here's the outside of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. (Not quite as exciting as the inside.) >
