This is the Shelburne Farms farmhouse, famous for its copper turrets. In its heyday, it was the most innovative and modern working farm in the world, and it was designed on a slope to blend in with the hill. Kind of a cross between a barn and a castle, don't you think?>
< Shelburne Farms now has an on-site Inn, and this is its Tea Room. The building was originally the family home. Nice, eh? (We didn't stay here)
Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks; a beautiful lakefront view from the Farms. >
< In the backyard of the Inn was this tree which was just turning colors. In the background you can see the roof of the carriage house, where all the horsedrawn carriages, and later cars, were stored. Today, Shelburne Farms is a working dairy farm, churning out award-winning cheddars.
In the Shelburne Farms education center, we found this sign made by a child at camp this summer. Thankfully, we weren't on the lunch tour... >
